Staff Scientist
Project Manager
Staff Scientist
We are currently seeking a Staff Scientist with a Geologist/Geoscientist with BS/BA in Geology/Hydrology or related physical science degree and 3-5 years experience in the environmental field
Candidate must have current OHSA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification (40 CFR 1910.120) and able to obtain medical clearance for field work. Candidates must have good working knowledge of USEPA, MDNR and KDHE, CERCLA and RCRA environmental regulations; extensive hands-on field experience with groundwater investigations; strong communications skills; and excellent technical, analytical and writing skills. Client satisfaction is the cornerstone of our business model. Client management and relationship building skills are important in regard to the position.
Responsibilities include providing hydrogeologic support, managing/overseeing field projects, remedial investigations, working with contractors and clients, writing and peer review of deliverables, and data interpretation and management. Must also remain current with technical literature and/or government/agency regulations pertaining to geology, drilling, site investigations, etc. and assist in the implementation of Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Programs in the office and field. Mold, lead and asbestos experience a plus.
Desired Skills: OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Certification (40 CFR 1910.120); Experience conducting monitoring and assessment of environmental media including surface water, sediment, soil, and groundwater; Experience scheduling, directing, and supervising field staff and subcontractors including drillers, heavy equipment operators, truck drivers/haulers, surveyors, and field sampling staff; Experience with soil logging (per USCS) and monitoring well installation; Experience with aquifer testing including slug tests and pumping tests a plus; Experience with calibrating field instruments (water quality instruments, organic vapor analyzers, combustible gas indicators, etc.). Ability to; Lift up to 40 lbs; Work for extended periods of time in the field, under hot or cold, humid, and wet conditions.

Responsibilities overseeing staff, providing peer review and client contact and relationship building. Work includes planning and supervising hydrogeologic projects, managing/overseeing field projects, remedial investigations, working with contractors and clients, writing and peer review of deliverables, and data interpretation and management. Must also remain current with technical literature and/or government/agency regulations pertaining to geology, drilling, site investigations, etc. and design of Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Programs in the office and field.
Advanced skills should include knowledge and installation of remedial systems (SVE/AS and others), and the operation and evaluation of system metrics. Experience in clean water, storm water, lead, mold and asbestos is helpful. Administration skills needed include invoice review, staff performance reviews, marketing and business development.
